05 Feb Classic Black & A Pop of Color

Outfit Crushes: Black blouse- She Inside, leather leggings- Spanx

HAPPY WEEKEND LOVES! I started off my day at Katalina’s (THE best brunch place in Columbus and also the best way to start a Saturday) so it’s safe to say it has been a pretty great day so far. In the afternoon I met up with some friends in the Short North so I decided to throw on this adorable plaid black lapel shirt I just picked up from Sheinside (LESS THAN $20, SAY WHATTT). I paired my blouse with my sort-of leather black spanx to stick with the classic all black everything look.

My favorite thing about wearing all black is being able to add a fun touch of color. I’m wearing a glamorous shimmering lip color and because it’s still so cold in Columbus I decided to wear one of my colorful jackets too. If you’re more of a neutral lip shade or jacket wearer, a pop of color in your shoes is always another option. Adding a little bit of extra color is always a fun choice to finish up any classic look!

01 Feb Sequined Sweatshirts & Red Lipstick

Outfit Crushes: sequined sweatshirt – Romwe, leggings – Athleta, sneakers – Adidas, sunnies – F21.

I’m not sure why, but lately I’ve been obsessed with graphics. I’m loving graphic t-shirts, sweatshirts, graphics printed on shoes, bags, wallets, etc. It might be some of the high end designers rubbing off on me. I think Gucci and Fendi are to credit for starting this shockwave in the fashion world for all things playful and graphic. Who says high fashion has to be serious anyway?

Graphics are a fun way to play around with your look because they add an overall youthful vibe to any clothing item or accessory. I thought the red sequined lips on this simple grey hoodie would be fun to play around with styling. This would make a great transitional piece into Spring because of how light weight it is and graphics are usually more popular during warmer months anyway. I was busy with classes, personal work, and coffee runs, so I kept my outfit pretty casual with some staple black leggings and sneakers. The pop of red lipstick was just a fun & spontaneous decision for the look and I’m pretty impressed that I didn’t smear it all over me haha.

p.s. this sweatshirt runs small, so I would go one size up when ordering.

24 Jan The Best Basics & Simple Styling

Outfit Crushes: sweater – American Apparel, leather leggings – Spanx, slip-on shoes – VonMaur, hat – fab’rik.

OK I think it’s safe to say that every single human being needs some sort of over sized sweater that they can throw on anytime, anywhere, for anything. I bought this particular sweater a few seasons ago and I’m still obsessed with it. The beige color makes it a perfect neutral to style with other neutrals, or even bolder pops of color. I was going for something comfortable today, so I threw on some faux leather leggings, slip-ons, and a hat and was ready for whatever!

I’m currently obsessed with wearing hats on those days where you probably should have washed your hair, probably could have washed your hair, but definitely did not because you were too lazy. That’s me almost every other day when I’m in school. This particular hat is a faux suede, so it dresses it up a little bit more than your typical base ball hat. Trust me when I say I have multiple colors in this… it’s getting bad.

The slip-on shoes have also been another favorite of mine this month. They’re so easy to style and wear literally all day long since they don’t have a heel to them. I wear them to class, when I’m out with friends, or even just running errands. The ones I’m wearing are by Steve Madden and there are tons of other color options if the tan isn’t your cup of tea. As always, links to everything in stock (or similar items) are below, if you want to achieve this look!

21 Jan Acid Wash Jeans & Going Out Shirts

Outfit Crushes: Denim- Guess, Shirt- Pretty Little Things, Shoes- Steve Madden

Alright I love these high waisted jeans from Guess. If you don’t own a pair of acid wash jeans you’ll definitely need to add one to your wardrobe. The wash makes them appear to be a little bit edgier and more casual which makes them a great piece to have. I chose to style mine with a high neck choker shirt which is perfect for going out with friends. I chose a black shirt because I think having a dark piece on top is just the right amount of contrast needed for the outfit.

Oh and OF COURSE I’m wearing my quilted Steve Maddens. If they look familiar you’re not going crazy because you’ve seen them in taupe plenty of times before (they’re addicting and they just happen to go with everything). You’ll be seeing them again soon, sorry 🙂

15 Jan Body Suits & Quilted Slip-Ons

Outfit Crushes: Body suit- Nordstrom, Jeans- Hudson, Shoes- Steve Madden

It’s official, bodysuits are making a comeback from their peak in the 90’s. Yes they remind me a little bit of leotards I wore when I did gymnastics in middle school or one piece swimsuits, but I’m not going to lie I’m definitely a huge proponent. The main reason being is because body suits give you the perfect tucked in shirt look without the hassle of continuously having to re-adjust. There’s so many different styles to get– open back, deep v, off the shoulder, strapless, etc.

I’m wearing my body suit with my favorite designer denim (Hudson’s Nico Midrise Super Skinny). I promise they’re worth the investment.. they fit like a glove, slim your legs, and make your butt look 10x better than it does. Also I can’t forget about my favorite new slip ons from Steve Madden.. they go with everything. Alright enough about this outfit, check out my body suit wish list:

11 Jan Blush Tones & Casual-Cute Looks

Outfit Crushes: sweater – Old Navy, v-neck – fabrik, leggings – Athleta, sneakers – Adidas.

Are you surprised to see another blog post from me featuring mauve pinks, whites, and blacks? Me neither.

Happy New Year everyone! Bri and I are so excited to be kicking off  Y E A R  T W O  of blogging. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of the journey this past year. We have already learned so much and have many surprises for 2017, so stay tuned.

For this look, I was off to get a much needed pre-birthday mani-pedi with Bri, so I wanted to look casual, but still sorta cute. I threw on my new fav sweater from Old Navy, which is incredibly soft and super long. I paired it with a simple white v-neck, some staple black leggings from Athleta and my new sneakers from Adidas. Athleta is one of my all time favorite active wear brands because it is moderately priced and very high quality. I can always justify spending the money on leggings and tops from here because you are really getting what you pay for! I’ve had this pair for over two years now and they are still form fitting and 100% opaque. Nothing is worse than realizing your leggings are see through half way through your day… AMIRIGHT?

As for the shoes, I’m sure you’ve seen these bad boys rocked all over social media over the past 6 months and for a good reason. The Adidas Superstars are super comfy and have become really on trend. My personal favorite style is the pink suede version that I got as a gift from ASOS. Don’t worry, I will link everything below if you’re interested in purchasing any of these items.

09 Jan Over the Knee Boots & Suede Details

Outfit Crushes: sweater – fab’rik, suede dress – fab’rik, thigh high boots – Charlotte Russe

Finally got my hands on a pair of the trendiest boot of Winter ’16/17– thigh high boots. I completely understand why these boots are so hyped up now that I own a pair. They are so chic and flattering on your legs. This particular pair was on sale for $20 during the Black Friday Sale, so I got them for 1/3 their regular price. Charlotte Russe always has sales going on so you can almost always get a deal on something.

I chose to style mine with a suede dress and layered it with an oversized sweater that I seem to wear just a little too much… It’s just super over sized and very cozy! I love throwing sweaters over dresses to help transition them into colder weather. It also looks super stylish as well.

27 Dec Army Green Joggers & Comfy Sweaters

Outfit Crushes: tank – fab’rik, sweater – Nordstrom, joggers – Free People, sneakers – Converse.

As a second year fashion design student, it is necessary to be comfy ALL day. If you’re anything like me, your day starts at 9am and doesn’t end until 2am at the latest. The work load is pretty intense, but when you’re doing what you love, at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. Now that I’m finally on winter break, I have been able to hang out with family and catch up with friends. Bri and I decided to get some food and outfit shots in one of our favorite hang out spots– Uptown Westerville. They have the cutest local shops and yummy little food places. Think of it like a less busy version of Short North in Columbus.

I decided to go for a comfy/casual look today in these super soft joggers from Free People. Bri and I both snatched these babies up when we saw that they were reduced from $128 to $29.99!!! I threw on a white v-neck from fab’rik with a comfy beige sweater & finished the look with the most seen sneaker ever– white Converse. I am loving how the casual/sporty vibe is being more and more popular because it honestly does not get better than a comfy pair of joggers and a nice oversized sweater. Free People has tons of joggers and sweats currently on sale if you’re in the mood to shop. I’d also like to recommend Victoria’s Secret. Although I’m not a huge name brand girl, I can’t diss how comfortable and cozy their sleepwear is. What can I say, being cozy during winter in Columbus is top priority for me.

22 Dec Obsessing over Free People & Trying New Styles

Outfit Crushes: Tee– Free People, Jeans- Urban Outfitters, Boots- Free People

Have you ladies been into Free People lately? It’s one of my favorite stores and they have had absolutely amazing deals as it’s getting closer and closer to Christmas! When I went there last week the markdowns were an additional 30% off so I got a pair of pants for $20 (orig. $130) and these featured boots for $40 (orig. $100). If you’re like me and a last minute holiday shopper you’ll have to check out their last minute deals and hope to get as lucky as I did.

I’m loving my featured outfit for different reasons than the usual ones. I love the outfit I’m wearing today because it is a little bit out of my comfort zone with a grungier look than I usually wear. The darker colors of my shirt and boots, mixed with variations of fabric and the sort of rugged look make my outfit appear a little more edgy. The Free People brand is all about exploring your own personal style so I definitely justified my purchase that way and because of the sales of course. I think I will definitely get a lot of wear out of both items, but especially the shirt. I bought the shirt in a large so it’s super oversized which makes it perfect to pair next with leggings.
