17 Apr Printed & Fun Kimonos

Outfit Crushes: kimono- fab’rik, tank- Norstrom, pants- Topshop

Smiling because Mel and I had a special short north date, which included another stop at The W Nail Bar!

Okay so one of my newest obsessions: KIMONOS. I love them because they’re light, easy to throw on, and super fun to style.  Tossing one over pants and a tank just completely changes a plain, casual outfit to something much more fun. My favorites are usually bright and decorated with patterns, but I do love the cool, pastel colors in the one I’m styling here.

I attached the kimono I’m wearing and found some more I would definitely want to add to my wardrobe. Check them out in clickable links below!

03 Apr Off The Shoulder Jumpsuits & High-Low Detailing

Outfit Crushes: jumpsuit- Romwe

Here I am in pink again, are you surprised?! Yes yes I’m always wearing pink, but if you haven’t noticed I’m not seen wearing rompers too often.

The main reason I prefer two piece outfits over rompers/short jumpsuits is because of how most of them look on me from behind. The majority of them seem to lay weirdly or cling to my legs. WELL LADIES, I have found my own personal solution: high-low jumpsuits. They’re a pretty perfect combination of comfy and adorable. This one is from the online clothing store Romwe and I love love love the color (obviously) and the detailing. The off the shoulder look is probably my favorite detail with the sleeve shape close behind.

You can buy this one here, I’m definitely going to be searching for similar styles to this online, but hey in the mean time if you find anything cute leave a link in the comments below.

27 Mar The Camo-Trend & NYC Street Wear

Outfit Crushes: camo jacket – Ci Sono, white bodysuit – Express, leggings – LuLu Lemon, heels – Jeffrey Campbell.

Happy Monday, everyone! I just got home from an awesome girls trip from NYC and am definitely feeling a bit sluggish after rushing around and adventuring for the past three days. A NYC blog post full of places I went will be coming soon, so keep an eye out for that in our Travel section on the blog.

I wanted to give you guys a little excerpt of one of my outfits that I wore in NY and all the deets on it. Anyone else been liking camo lately? If it is styled correctly, I think it’s a great way to maintain the neutrals, but also have fun with a pattern in your look. Too much camo is definitely a thing in my book, so I find this jacket to be the perfect amount. You can find a good camo jacket anywhere from fast fashion retailers to high end designers. I’m thinking about embellishing this one to make it a little more personalized. I kept it casual with some black leggings and a white body suit.

The white body suit definitely helps brighten up the look and I think the zipper detailing down the middle is a nice feature even if it won’t actually be used.

While I was in NYC, I definitely took note of some trends while I was shopping and just walking around the city. Some of my favorite trends I noticed were:

  1. All things leather. It’s still pretty chilly and rainy in New York at the moment, so people were definitely layering up with leather pieces like jackets, leggings, and coats. I snagged a leather jacket from Mango, while I was there as well!
  2. Statement sneakers. Loungewear is so big right now. It’s becoming more and more acceptable to wear sneakers and leggings from day to night. I’m loving this because of how comfortable it is! Statement sneakers are a great thing to invest in for this Spring & Summer season.
  3. Statement sleeves. No surprise here, but sleeves are a huge focal point at the moment. Ruffles, embellishments, flares, etc can be seen on anything from long sleeves t-shirts to sweaters to outerwear coats. I am a HUGE fan of this trend! I think it’s so fun and playful.

As always, links will be listed below.

Have a great rest of your week!

19 Mar Pastel Denim & Distressed Jackets

Outfit Crushes: pink denim- Fabtique (Kut from the Kloth), tee- Free People, distressed jacket- She In

Happy first day of spring ladies! As Mel said in her 2017 Spring Trends post, pastels won’t be as popular as vibrant colors and patterns this season but they will definitely still be making an appearance from me. Pastels are definitely my favorite color palette and spring is the perfect time to incorporate them into adorable outfits. I just found these light pink pastel pants at a super cute boutique in Upper Arlington called Fabtique. If you live around the Lane Avenue area I would definitely suggest checking this shop out. The associates were extremely personable and the brands are fairly high end, while still at pretty affordable price points. I am a huge fan of these pants in particular because they fit my body shape well and the blush color makes them a unique, but versatile piece to have.

I paired my new blush denim with a distressed jacket I found on She In, an extremely large, trendy, and cheap online store we have featured a few times. I absolutely love love love this denim jacket because of the distressed detailing. Everyone has been wearing ripped jeans, but now I definitely think ripped denim jackets are going to become a huge trend. The entire back of this one is ripped up, which makes it especially adorable when you want to show the back of a fun shirt. I’ve had tons of people ask me where to buy this one, so it will definitely be linked below. PS– IT’S UNDER $30 RIGHT NOW!

18 Mar Business Casual & Block Heels

Outfit Crushes: white v-neck – fab’rik, green lapel top – F21, boyfriend denim – H&M, heels – Nordstrom Rack

Hi everyone! It feels like forever since my last blog post. I have been so tied up with midterms, but I’m finally on Spring break and it feels so goooooooood! I wish I had this amazing getaway trip planned, but to be honest I’ll most likely be catching up on some much needed sleep and spending time with Billy, family, and friends. I do have a New York City trip planned for this upcoming weekend, which I am very excited for. I haven’t been to NYC in a few years, I usually go annually to NY for skiing, but never get a chance to hang out in the city, unfortunately. It’s going to be such a fun girls trip full of shopping, relaxing, and adventuring. Stay tuned for that post coming soon.

Today’s look is featuring a business casual outfit that is my go-to when I have errands to run, lunch dates with Bri, or even work. It’s a great way to look sort-of put together and still feel comfortable. I’m wearing a simple white v-neck, light wash boyfriend jeans, and a green lapel shirt for some layering. I swear, anything with a lapel detailing automatically makes you look 10x dressier. I decided to throw on my new pair of Calvin Klein block heels to finish off the look. I scored these for under $100 from Nordstrom Rack, which is super awesome considering they’re CK.

Block heels are one of my favorite heel styles to buy because of how thick the heel is and how comfortable they are. The thicker the heel, the easier to walk in. I hate wearing a cute outfit and having to take off my heels mid-day. Links to everything will be listed below if you’re interested in picking anything up.

Lots of love & we’ll talk soon (from NYC!!!!!!!!!)

03 Mar Sporty Casual & Going Blonde

Outfit Crushes: leather ball cap- fab’rik, shirt- fab’rik, leggings- lulu lemon, shoes- adidas

SURPRISE! Outfit Crush is no longer a brunette duo! I decided to dye my hair blonde completely spur of the moment. I was super nervous because 1) I was trying a new hairstylist and 2) I had no idea if I was fit to be a blondie . I went to see Taelor, at the Kenneth’s hair salon on North State Street and it’s safe to say I’m never going to anyone else again! She was so friendly and did such an amazing job on my coloring. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and after she was done I couldn’t tell the difference between my new hair and the picture I showed her an hour earlier.

When I met Mel for our normal 4 pm Friday shift at fab’rik, I noticed we had tons of new arrivals. The second I saw this off to the side lace up top and rose leather ball cap I knew they were going home with me. I styled the two together with my favorite lulu leggings and rose gold Adidas to make a sporty casual look.

A hair change is an excuse to get a whole new outfit, right???

01 Mar 2017 Spring Trends

I love the idea of Spring, but not so much the actual season in Columbus, OH. It could be 50 degrees and thunder storming on Tuesday morning and then by Wednesday afternoon its 70 degrees and sunny. I think I’m also one of those people with the “unpopular opinion” of disliking rain. I can tell you that I DO love seeing the trends for warmer weather slowly emerging after this time, especially after gaining so much amazing inspiration from Fashion Week. Here are the top trends you’ll be seeing us rock this Spring (& probably going into Summer too!)

  1. Denim – denim everything has never been more on trend than it is right now. (ok maybe thats me over exaggerating, but denim is honestly huge right now. You’ll see denim anywhere from thigh high denim boots, distressed mom jeans, jackets, vests, and even accessories like chokers and arm cuffs. I’m honestly loving it.
  2. Embroidery – embroidery and denim go hand in hand. It’s a fun way to add some personality to your wardrobe.
  3. Color – goodbye pastels, hello vibrant hues. Pastels were super in this past A/W season, but you’ll start seeing major pops of color in everything. Vibrant prints are going to be huge for Spring & Summer.
  4. Textures – no surprise here, but velvet and suede are definitely here to stay. It’ll be interesting to see velvet combo’d with vibrant colors.
  5. Wide leg trousers – since we’ve had a good run of the iconic skinny jean, wide leg is super on trend right now. You’ll see this anywhere from wide leg denim to wide leg business trousers.
  6. Statement sleeves – you’re already starting to see this in a lot of knit wear, but blouses with statement sleeves are going to continue to be really big this season. I’m such a huge fan of this trend! Sleeves are such a fun way to spice up your look & add some playfulness.

INSPIRATON:

Can you see yourself rocking any of these trends for the upcoming S/S17 season?

24 Feb Tiered Sleeves & Strappy Heels

Outfit Crushes: shirt- fab’rik style, jeans- paige denim, shoes- Von Maur, sunnies- Ray Ban

Who doesn’t love shirts with unique detailing? I’ve been an avid supporter of the bell sleeve trend, but now I’ve found a similar style I almost like more: tiered sleeves. After checking out a bunch of styles online, I picked a top with three tiers on each sleeve (the perfect amount in my opinion). The shirt is pretty much perfect, not to mention the fact that it’s flowy, comfy, and flattering on. It only comes in cream, but I’m not complaining because it’s the perfect shade for this kind of top. I think the cream color adds a little bit of an elegant look to it.

PS– So happy it was 75 and sunny in CBUS yesterday and it’s only FEB. Hoping the sunnies can stay out!

Have a great weekend, babes.

13 Feb Mauve Bombers & Girlfriend Jeans

Outfit Crushes: suede v-neck – Z Supply, bomber – F21, denim – H&M, suede Adidas sneakers – ASOS.

Do you ever walk into a store with your friend, sister, boyfriend, etc and have ZERO intentions of buying something for yourself… BUT THEN you see something so cute and its the LAST one in YOUR size? Yeah same. That’s what happened with me and this bomber from Forever 21. I don’t regret buying it, but I literally instantly fell in love when I saw it. The quilted detailing makes it look so much more expensive than it actually was and the fabric feels pretty high quality considering it was under $30! I think this mauvey purple/pink color is perfect for this season. You’ll definitely see me sporting this all the way up until Summer.

I decided to style it with a black suede v-neck from Z Supply to add some more texture to the look. Z Supply is by far my favorite lounge wear brand. They make the most comfortable hoodies & t-shirts. I would highly recommend checking them out. I also threw on a light wash pair of girlfriend jeans from H&M that were under $40! Basically everything in my outfit (besides the sneakers) was under $50 ea.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone

11 Feb Chanel Vibes & Dresses with Fringe

Outfit Crushes: fringe dress- fab’rik style, booties- F21

¯\_(ツ)_/¯  <— My face when my professor tells us we have to dress business casual for a presentation.

A messy room and multiple piles of clothes later, I picked this fringe dress I had from fab’rik style. Everything about the twill weave dress screams “CHANEL” but this one just happens to be hundreds of dollars cheaper and not straight off the runway (surprising, I know.) I love the black and white color combo because it’s classy and easy to style. The dress is on sale for $40 right now! I know everyone has black boots, heels, or booties to wear with this which makes a whole outfit for a really good price.

Have an amazing week!
