11 Jun Denim Skirts & Birkenstocks

Outfit Crushes: Denim skirt- Pac Sun (Kendall & Kylie), vintage shirt- Urban Outfitters, shoes- Birkenstock, rings & bracelets- Pandora

Good afternoon beauties! Right now I am crushing hard on the Kendall & Kylie collection. If you haven’t checked out their line you have have have to. The lace up jean skirt I am wearing is a product designed by them and I love how it combines the much loved lace-up trend and the new vintage style that is becoming more and more popular. The skirt has so many perks. Besides being cute it is extremely comfortable and seems to be flattering on almost all body types (even on girls with big hips like me).

You can find my Kendall and Kylie Skirt for under $40 here

If you didn’t notice, I am also wearing the ever so popular Birkenstocks. Let me tell you, after trying them for myself I agree that they have a reason to be popular!  The style I have goes with almost everything and they mold to to the shape of your feet so talk about the most comfortable shoes ever.

You can find my Birkenstocks here

I highly recommend the on trend skirt and shoes and wish you happy shopping and a great rest of your weekend! Talk to you soon babes.

09 Jun Off the Shoulder Trends & Feminine Details

Outfit Crushes: off the shoulder blouse – SheInside, white jeans – Hollister, heels – Jeffrey Campbell.

(this look is in collaboration with SheInside)

Recently I have completely fallen in love with the off-the-shoulder trend for the Summer season. It is so flattering on so many different body types and also very appropriate for so many different occasions. As you know, I love my neutrals, so this top from SheInside was calling my name! I’m also loving the little bow tie detailing that is on each sleeve. Little details make monochromatic outfits very successful because although the color palette is muted, the detailing can be a great way to make a statement with your outfit.

Can we also talk about how affordable and high quality this top is? It was originally priced at $28.58, but is now on sale for $17.59, which is a huge steal considering how high quality the fabric is. I chose to style it with some soft white jeans and my Jeffrey Campbell suede block heels. The tie up detailing helped to unify the bow ties on the sleeves in this top, so I thought it gave the outfit a very feminine quality overall.

SheInside is currently having a huge sale site wide with everything up to 40% off their already affordable prices. So if I were you, I would take a peek.

Have a great rest of your week!

08 Jun Alchemy Juice Bar & Cafe

Why is it that fresh fruit tastes so much better in the Summer time? Well, how about a smoothie bowl loaded up with fresh bananas and acai berries, topped with your choice of coconut, goji berries, granola, or all of the above?

Alchemy is one of my new favorite places to stop and grab a healthy snack at post workout or any time of the day really. I went with a really good friend of mine who has been vegan for a little while now, but vegetarian for over a year. While I have also been vegetarian for 9 years, we can both appreciate any sort of food place that offers delicious options without meat being a main part of the dishes.

Megan ordered a Blueberry Almond Butter bowl with a side of toast, topped with fresh bananas and spicy organic peanut butter. I decided to order something new this time, so I went with The Rio – which has organic acai, banana, apple juice, and toppings of sliced bananas and sweet granola. If your mouth isn’t watering yet, then maybe you need to re-read the past two sentences.

Alchemy also offers fresh salads packaged daily, cold pressed juices, sandwiches, coffee, tea, and even more options of topped off toast. So, there are truly so many options for all different kinds of taste buds. I typically go for the smoothie bowl every time, but I am wanting to try their fresh salads with a side of cold pressed juice sometime soon! The fact that Alchemy is so close to my apartment in downtown Columbus makes it a serious addiction. So, if you are a Columbus native and haven’t given it a shot yet, I would high recommend stopping in and trying something off their menu.

Visit alchemyjuicecafe.com for more information.

Have a great week lovelies!

07 Jun Warm Weather & Summer Dresses

Outfit Crushes: Black lace up dress – Altar’d State

Hey there girlies! This gorgeous summer sun (THANK GOODNESS) calls for my favorite article of clothing: summer dresses. I’m wearing a black lace up dress from Altar’d State that I got for only $15! Talk about thrifting! Mel and I have been loving the lace up trend from shirts to shorts to skirts to dresses to shoes… they’re almost all adorable. I love the black color because it gives me tons of flexibility from where I can wear the dress to and what colors I can use to accessorize it.

Summer dresses are perfect for almost any occasion. Here’s a few dresses I’m crushing on, I hope you like them!

01 Jun Staple peplums & Block heels

Outfit Crushes: peplum top – Forever 21, jeans – Forever 21, shoes – Jeffrey Campbell.

Hello periwinkle!

I am obsessed with this color for Summer, and the fact that it is used on this pretty little peplum top from Forever 21, makes it ideal for me. Peplums are one of my favorite shapes to wear when I’m feeling a little body conscious because they help to accentuate the natural curves in your body and enhance your shape in all the right places. This top just so happens to have some spandex blended into the fabric so it is also super comfortable even while still looking super chic.

I decided to style this top with a dark wash denim to show a high contrast between the two colors. And finally, my favorite part. The shoes.

Block heels are my new favorite style of shoe and I can’t see myself buying anything higher than an inch of heel for a while. I love the fact that these are still very stylish, all while being extremely comfortable. This seems to be a common theme for me: comfort & style cowing together as one. Hahaha I hope you guys feel the same! Nothing is worse than trying to rock a high heel for 6+ hours and your feet start to kill. So why not invest in a stylish pair that still makes you feel confident and comfortable while wearing them? I’m highly recommending the block heel. I promise you guys won’t regret it. Jeffrey Campbell also just so happens to be one of my all time favorite shoe designers. So if you’re looking for some shoe inspiration, check out his designs!

Hope you all are getting excited for this Summer! I know I am.

24 May Textured Tanks & Gold Accents

Outfit Crushes: tank – DFW, jeans – H&M, shoes – Forever 21, hat – Forever 21, necklace – Francesca’s.

I love this look because it is put together with a simplistic color palette, but stylized with matching accessories. And everything pictured is relatively inexpensive! Each item is under $50 each, which is eye candy for a college student like me.

The textured chevron pattern adds a new element to this basic white tank. And I’m also loving how this top only cost $6 from Designer Fashion Warehouse. I think there are 4 or 5 different locations, so I would definitely recommend stopping in one near you and checking it out!

I chose to accessorize this look with tan and gold accents because white and gold is one of my favorite color combinations for Spring and Summer. If you’re not a fan of sun hats like me, then you could try styling a floral print headband or some fun gold hoops to finish off your own version of this look.

20 May Button Ups & Ripped Jeans

Outfit Crushes: white button up – Anthropologie, ripped jeans – Nordstrom Rack, wedges – Charlotte Russe.

White button up shirts are one of the most timeless pieces you could own in your closet. They go with almost anything, can be styled appropriately for each season, and are so easy! Today I’m wearing a short sleeved white button up by Maeve with my favorite pair of ripped jeans by Vigoss. I think white button ups look effortless, clean, and simple. This particular one by Maeve is fun because it has short sleeves instead of your traditional long sleeve. You could choose to dress it up by adding colorful jewelry to go along with it. I added some additional texture by wearing it with some distressed denim.

This HD in Paris top is currently in season, online and in stores at Anthropologie. However, some of my favorite brands that carry timeless white button ups will be linked below if this particular shirt doesn’t fit your taste.

To make the look complete I styled it with some of my favorite white wedges from Charlotte Russe. Wedges are one of my fav shoes to wear during the spring because I’m only 5’2, so it gives me a flattering height while dressing up my outfits a little bit! Bri and I are officially out of school and on summer break, so be prepared for some amazing blog posts coming your way!

19 May Bright Colors & Trench Coats

Outfit Crushes: Pink Jacket- Von Maur, White Shirt- Urban Outfitters, Jeans- Paige Denim, Shoes- Toms, Jewelry- Pandora and Alex & Ani

Here’s some pictures of me in my favorite Columbus Mall (Easton) in my not so favorite weather (rain–not pictured). First of all, college is done for the year which means it’s SUMMER for me which means it should be sunny… right? Because SUMMER=SUN? I guess I’ve been getting ahead of myself since Summer isn’t technically for 33 days and who am I kidding even during SUMMER in OHIO it will be raining… Because SUMMER in OHIO=SUN, RAIN, SNOW, HAIL, SLEET, AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN THINK OF!

Soooooooo Here’s the solution:

TRENCH RAIN COATS! And pretty ones at that!

I’m wearing my favorite pink trench coat to add a pop of color to my fairly neutral outfit. I really love this coat. Because of the bright and fun color it screams spring/summer, while I still look like I have dressed appropriately for the weather.  I am going to attach some cute and colorful trench coats I have found available for purchase online!

17 May Whole Foods Market

Okay ladies if you haven’t been to Whole Foods Market you NEED to go! I have lived in Columbus, Ohio for 19 years and surprisingly AND unfortunately I made my first trip to Whole Foods this week. Columbus has three suburb locations: Dublin, Upper Arlington, and Easton so I really have had no excuse to not make my way there! But hey don’t worry if you’re not a Columbus reader, they have tons and tons of locations elsewhere!

If you’re not one of the million foodies following this place, Whole Foods Market is essentially a high end grocery store with lots of healthy, organic, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. You can buy all of your needed groceries there, stop in for a tea or coffee at their cute little cafe inside, take home a delicious prepared lunch from their eat-in section of the store, or if you’re of age grab some friends for their wine and beer happy hour. I went to Whole Foods for lunch with my mama and we were both in heaven. I got chicken tacos with lettuce, cheese, and guacamole from their build-your-own taco station. Mmmm I’m getting hungry again just thinking about ’em! But seriously if you haven’t been go go go because you wont be disappointed!

14 May CCAD Fashion Show

Last night was by far one of the coolest nights of my college career thus far! I had the opportunity to work back stage and get an inside look at the 2016 Columbus College of Art & Design Annual Fashion Show.

Columbus has reached #3 in the top cities with most resident fashion designers in America, just trailing behind LA & NY. So this fashion show is a big deal for many Columbus natives and even non Columbus residents. People come in from all over the country to see the collections that the Senior class at CCAD has put together.

I have been to this event twice before, but nothing compares to being back stage and working with designers and models. I got the chance to work with designer, Lauren Metelitz. Her collection was Spanish matador inspired, so it featured a lot a monochromatic color palette with silver detailing. The details in her garments were well crafted and truly beautiful. Some of the pieces had hand sewn fringe, lace up detailing, and innovative cut outs in the fabric that pulled the looks together as a whole. Below are some pictures of her finished garments that were featured in the show.

I also had the chance to hang out with one of the models back stage! Olivia Saunders was definitely a pleasure to work with throughout the night and hang out with at the after party.

It is safe to say that I will definitely be returning next year to work backstage again with next years seniors. The rush of the quick changes, the intensity of the runway, and the anticipation of seeing the designers satisfied with their work has me very excited for my senior year. I can’t wait to see what next year entails and what the future holds for me when it is time to have my collection appear onstage. If you are a Columbus resident, or simply touring the city next May, I would highly recommend buying a ticket and watching the show. You won’t regret it!
