18 Apr Carbon Coco x Outfit Crush

Products Featured: Ultimate Carbon Kit

If you know me pretty well, you’ll know I’ve had a crazy, expensive, and painful journey with my teeth. I had severely crowded teeth and an unaligned jawline growing up, so I spent 2 years with a palette expander in the upper roof of my mouth and 2.5 years with braces. I’ve learned a lot about confidence and good oral care along the years, so when I come across a brand that promotes that I love to test it out myself.

Being on the college student budget, I’ve never had my teeth professionally whitened. I’ve used Colgate ever since I was a kid, so when Carbon Coco reached out to me I figured it was time to switch things up!

Carbon Coco is an Australian based, all natural, teeth whitening company. They have a range of products including: activated charcoal tooth polish, tooth brushes, oil pulling tooth paste, activated charcoal tooth paste, and even a tongue cleaner.

I got the chance to test out the Ultimate Carbon Kit which contains the following:

  • Activated charcoal tooth paste
  • A tooth brush
  • Activated charcoal tooth polish

Overall I can say this was a very fun and easy to use product. You wet your brush with water, then gently dip it into the charcoal polish and brush your teeth for about 3 minutes. After rinsing, you use the charcoal tooth paste like you would any other tooth past for 2-3 minutes and brush normally. Rinse one more time and you’re all done.

I loved how soft the bristles on the tooth brush were along with how fine the charcoal polish was. I was a little intimidated looking at the charcoal powder at first because I was scared it would scrape my sensitive teeth and create even more sensitivity. The charcoal polish is super soft and barely had any taste to it, so I enjoyed testing it out! The tooth paste was spearmint flavored, so I enjoyed using that as well.

I am an avid coffee drinker with the occasional cup of tea, so I definitely noticed my surface stains slowly fading after using this product for 2 weeks. I’ve been using the kit for over a month now and have only see positive results, so I will continue to use it until it runs out. It’s super comforting knowing that it’s an all natural product, so I’m not ingesting any bad chemicals into my body every morning.

I hope this review was helpful to you, and I really do recommend giving some of their products a try. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out! View their website here.

14 Apr Polka Dot Prints & Transitioning into Spring

Outfit Crushes: blouse – Romwe, denim – Just Black (fab’rik Easton), shoes – H&M.

Rain rain go away…

It’s been a little while since I’ve been on here. Junior year has been insanely busy, but totally worth it. I’ve been interviewing for internships and having versatile and stylish blouses have been key to feeling confident in every interview. This polka dot blouse from Romwe is super comfortable and surprisingly easy to style despite the subtle polka dot print. I think the fact that it’s black and white makes it easy to pair with denim, a colorful chino, or even a dress pant depending on how elevated you want the look to be.

I’ve styled it down a bit with some awesome jeans from fab’rik Easton. The raw hem is so fun and on trend for Spring. I finished the look with some black loafers from H&M (last season.)

07 Feb Cocoa Locks x Outfit Crush

Hey guys!

It’s been a little while since you’ve seen a beauty related post from me, but I’m pretty excited to be showing you guys a new product I’ve been using related to hair growth. A tasty hair vitamin brand reached out to me a little under 2 months ago & I was immediately intrigued. The brand is adorably named, Cocoa Locks. A little while ago, I was one of those meme’s where the hair bleach goes horribly wrong and half your head is straight yellow-orange and the other half is hanging on for dear life. Yep. I know– tragic. So ever since, I’ve been growing the bleach out of my hair and it’s been a very long process that has taught me to have lots of patience. So you can imagine when a hair vitamin brand offers to give you a test run of their vitamins, and you’ve been trying to grow your hair healthy again for 2+ years, you’re gonna take it.

That being said, I have not seen any “overnight amazing 10 inches” growing out of my head. But I do believe that if I keep this up consistently, I will start to see a major difference in the new hair thats growing. I try my best to drink a cup every day like it recommends and drink it as a dessert after some of my meals. It surprisingly tastes so much like hot chocolate, so I down it pretty quickly (especially in the freezing Columbus temps.) I’ve been trying the product out for a little over a month now, so I will continue to keep you guys posted, but I can’t help but be excited! I have always put my hair on the back burner because I don’t have the time or the money (lol college student budget) to invest in expensive hair care or dyes for myself. However, I think taking some awesome hair vitamins can do nothing but help me in this case. I would highly recommend giving them a try if you haven’t already. If you’ve ever tried the brand before, or are currently trying it out, let me know your experience! I would love to hear about your hair journey.

If you’d like to give it a try, you can use the code “OUTFITCRUSH20” at check out to save 20% off your purchase. Check out the website HERE

17 Jan Winter Wine Nights & Outfit Dilemmas

Outfit Crushes: glasses- Vogue, shirt- Forever 21, jacket- Rag-o-Rama, skirt- Romwe, knee highs- Buffalo Exchange, shoes- Buffalo Exchange

As some of you know, Mel and I work together as stylists on the weekends. One of the most common dilemmas young customers are asking us about is what to wear when going out during the winter season (in states with weather like Ohio, ugh).

Of course anyone could tell you that you’ll stay warm in a few layers of pants and your biggest winter jacket, but I’m sure that’s not the look all of you are exactly going for. Here’s what I say about dressing cute and staying warm:

You can rock almost any type of bottoms if you work them the right way. If you want to try a fun, more casual look play around with some trendy joggers, utility pants, or Adidas crops. You could wear a beanie to complete the look too.

-Layering is always an easy way to go. Wear any kind of dressy shirt, but pair it with an cardigan, oversized denim jacket, or blazer.

-Although it’s still not the warmest option, to make skirts more weather appropriate add 1) tights or knee highs and 2) boots or booties with it. Hiding fuzzy socks under my over the knee boots is one of my favorite tricks.

Jackets don’t have to ruin an outfit! Fur coats are one way to make the outfit statement. I found the one I’m wearing from a resale shop in C-bus for $25 and I’m always seen wearing it out.

14 Jan Styling Blazers & Anthro TAG Sale

Outfit Crushes: blazer – fab’rik, satin came – Anthropologie, denim – Just Black, pleather booties – fab’rik, velvet bag – Anthropologie, sunnies – Quay.

Hi guys! Currently curled up in my apartment hiding from the snow storm that decided to ambush Columbus, so I figured I’d write a blog post. This look is from yesterday since I’m actually in a giant sweatshirt & leggings now.

I think owning a black blazer in your closet is an absolute must. It’s perfect for job interviews, work days, special occasions, or sometimes dressing even down a little like I decided to do in this look. I styled it down with some ripped black jeans and booties. It made the look very wearable, but still elevated from my usual every day cardigans and chunky sweaters.

If you haven’t had a chance to shop the Anthropologie TAG sale, you have to! I stopped in the Easton location this past weekend and found a little too much stuff. I ended up leaving with 3 tops and a bag for under $50. That’s basically unheard of. They currently have an additional 40% off their current sale items too. The satin cami & velvet bag I’m wearing in this photo is from the sale. I’ve linked everything below for you to check out, along with some additional sale items that I’ve been eyeing. Who else loves post holiday sales?!

Stay warm wherever you are!

27 Dec The Chenille Knit & Winter Beanies

Outfit Crushes: pink sweater – American Eagle, leggings – Athleta, boots – H&M, pom pom beanie – Old Navy

Hi guys! I feel like I haven’t done a blog post in forever– maybe because Junior year of college has been by far the most time consuming and mentally exhausting year so far. Somehow I wouldn’t trade it for anything though!

I’m currently obsessed with all things chenille knit. You know what I’m talking about- it’s those super soft sweaters with the velvety yarns used. They’re all over the market right now and I can see why. I snagged this pink balloon sleeved sweater from A&E on black friday for only $30 (steal.) It’s actually on sale now in 3 different colors for only $22 (super steal!) It did not get over 10 degrees today, so I chose to accessorize with warm essentials like these brown lace up boots and this adorable cream beanie from Old Navy. Thanks baby sis for the bomb Christmas present! I’m definitely going to be wearing this all winter long. I would definitely recommend picking up a beanie, pom pom hat, snow hat, whatever you wanna call it, this season because they’re definitely on trend. I’m sure you guys will see me styling more as the season goes on.

All items are linked below, so happy post Christmas shopping!

20 Dec Outfit Crush x ELOQUII x Theory Image

Super excited to show you guys the latest collab I’ve been working on. This one is a little more personal to me. I had the opportunity this semester to design a dress for a plus sized women’s clothing brand called ELOQUII. They are based out of Columbus and have an amazing message about body positivity & fashion being inclusive for all.

I decided to design a coral wrap dress in a neoprene base with some white ruffles. I wanted to design something that had movement, flexibility, and absorbency for Spring/Summer ‘18.

Aside from the opportunity to design for a local brand & a target market I’ve never designed for before, I had the chance to shoot my dress with the AMAZING Mariam Iqbal K. She owns a photography business with her husband called Theory Image. When I saw her work on her Instagram page (@theoryimage), I fell in love with her quality images and stylized edits. Her personal page is @mariammigbal if you’d like to check her out on there as well. The girl has got some great taste in personal styling!

Here are some of my favorite shots:

Also a huge shout out to my lovely model, Sarah Pfeifer (@simplysarah93.)

She was such a champ for taking pics in this summery dress during mid November weather. Definitely check out both of these ladies accounts because they are truly talented. Let me know what you guys think of the design & shots in the comments!

25 Nov Graphic Bombers & Guess Denim

Outfit Crushes: Bomber- She Inside, Jeans- Guess, Slides- Steve Madden

Hey babes, happy Saturday! Mel and I hope you all had an awesome Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, and lots of yummy food. Especially stuffing.. my favorite. We are extremely grateful for all of our readers and we thought of you a little bit extra this week.

A few days ago we previewed this black bomber on Instagram. It’s safe to say it will barely be in my closet at all this season because I can’t seem to take it off. I wore it with accents of red for the OSU game and people were asking me where I grabbed it so I decided to post it on here!

This bomber is adorably oversized and is a great layering piece to throw over anything or even sweatshirts when it’s cold. I love the fact that it’s easy to throw on while adding an edgy flare to any outfit. This jacket is a statement piece for sure and it’s on sale for CRAZY cheap right now.

Check it out and go crazy with all of the sales this weekend!

29 Oct Olive Green & White Kicks

Outfit Crushes: vest – Pitaya (last season), blouse – fab’rik Easton, leggings – Athleta, sneakers – Old Navy

Happy Monday, everyone! Ok I know that’s not the best thing to hear, buuuuut I am in such a good mood! Midterms are over and the weather is finally starting to get cold. This is hands down my favorite time of year. Today it was a bit colder, so I decided to wear one of my favorite cold shoulder tops with a vest layered on top for some extra warmth. Olive green is one of the most flattering colors for all complexions. I swear it looks great on every hair color as well. If you don’t already own an olive vest / jacket, you definitely need one for this Fall!

I decided to finish the look with some comfy black leggings from my favorite athletic brand, Athleta, and some white sneakers that I’ve been wearing daily nonstop! You can pick these up for under $25 at Old Navy. They come in a bunch of other colors as well. I prefer the white because they’re easy to style with almost any outfit. Additionally, they run true to size, so I stuck with my regular size 8! Links are below.
